Established in 2008, we teach Goju-Ryu Karate and are part of the EGKA and IOGKF.

A little about us…

We only teach Adults and focus on promoting and preserving traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate.

We welcome students of any experience and fitness level.

Whether you’re a beginner or experienced in other disciplines, what unites us is a desire to enjoy Karate together.

For some Karate is a recreational alternative to the gym, for others it is all about self defence.

We believe everyone’s Karate journey is their own.

  • Wednesday 7pm - 8:30pm
    Sunday 8:30am - 10am

    We also train outside of class times and try to encourage an environment of support.

  • Monthly cost of membership:

    One class per week - £20 / monthly
    Two classes per week - £40 / monthly

    EGKA Membership per year - £45

    A trial session is free if you want to come along and see if our dojo is the right fit for you.

  • Sensei Simon McCarthy - 4th Dan (Yondan) 四段

    We are lucky to have Simon as our club Sensei. He is a talented and knowledgable Karate instructor who believes that everyone has their own journey. Simon sees his role as helping to encourage, and guide all of the clubs members along their path.

    Tabie Thomson - 4th Dan (Yondan) 四段

    Tabie embarked on her Karate journey in 2004, having previously practiced boxing and kickboxing. She has over 2 decades of experience in Goju Ryu and has trained with IOGKF clubs all over the world.

    Andy Aitchison - 3rd Dan (Sandan) 三段

    Andy has over 20 years in Karate experience. Andy dedicates some of his spare time to helping the club members to improve technique and knowledge outside of class hours.

    Anton Dikken - 1st Dan (Shodan) 初段

    Anton started Karate when he was 50 and plans to train well into his 80s! Now retired, he says that Karate offers him some structure in his daily life.
